Description
Revival is a recurring theme in God's work with His people—a divine movement that has shaped Church history and continues to stir hearts today. This course explores the nature, necessity and impact of revival by examining key moments in Church history, defining what true revival looks like, and uncovering the spiritual dynamics that accompany it. Students will also consider how the Church can prepare for and actively participate in the revival God is seeking to bring in our generation.
GOALS OF THE COURSE
-Understand the nature and purpose of true revival and its impact on individuals, churches and nations.
-Appreciate and learn from significant revivals throughout Church history.
-Identify the spiritual dynamics and manifestations commonly associated with revival.
-Cultivate personal faith and hunger for revival, becoming equipped to help foster it.
-Recognize common pitfalls that have hindered or ended past revivals and learn how to avoid them.
MEET THE FACULTY MEMBER
The late Dr. John D. Shiver and his wife, Evette, traveled across America and around the world bringing a fresh impartation of the Holy Spirit to people through crusades, pastor’s conferences, and ministry in local churches. The ministry has conducted over 3,500 meetings in 56 denominations and fellowships on five continents. The Shivers pastored for 12 years both in the United Methodist Church and a non-denominational church that they founded before traveling across America and the nations full-time.
